Provides professional leadership and acts as a role model and mentor to fellow nursing staff Demonstrates critical thinking and provides leadership in conflict management and problem solving Promotes and supports a collaborative practice model Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and family centered care Demonstrates a professional commitment to patients and fellow nursing staff. Adopts an interdisciplinary team approach based on mutual respect and direct communication between health professionals. Liaises with Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor to ensure the patient care load is addressed with the appropriate staffing and skill mix in an environment which is safe for the patient and nurse. Ensures the nursing staff works within their capacity, experience, training and scope of practice. Participates as assigned on committees, working groups and other organization activities. Acts as a preceptor to less experienced staff as required. Monitors staff performance, providing regular constructive feedback, coaching, guidance and support to team members on the shift. Actively participates in organizational change in a constructive manner. Management of the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
