Staff Nurse ( Wards, ICU , Casualty, OT,)

Job Description

WARDS

* Act as a safe practitioner, demonstrating clinical excellence.
* Be responsible for the management of a ward and unit in coordination with sister in charges.
* Attend rounds with Consultants, present the patient condition note down and implement instructions.
* To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients care needs as required.
* Raising of various requisitions related to treatments and nursing procedures.
* Ensure effective use of evidence based care and demonstrate commitment to, and participation in, research and audit.
* Ensure the effective use of organizations resources in the delivery of patient care.
* Coordinate with ward secretary regarding admissions, discharges of patients and billing activities.
* Work in accordance with the organization, national and local standards.
* Be responsible for effective communication with patients, careers, other disciplines and agencies.
* To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.
* Sustain the Quality standards.
* To adhere the safety norms of hospital, follow both patient, and staff safety rules.
* To perform any job/task as and when assigned by the superior.
* Ensure the safety and well being of patients, staff and visitors to the clinical area.
* To maintain patient confidentially at all times in accordance with the organization.
* To ensure self and staff maintain a constant awareness of health, welfare and safety issues affecting you, colleagues, patients and visitors, reporting and accidents or fault in line with the organizations policy.
* To participate in personal training and development, including the appraisal process and attend all relevant training courses as required.
* The post holder may be required to undertake other duties as required, which fall within the grading of this post, to meet the needs of this new and developing service.
* Taking care of all equipment in particular costly equipment on use with patients.

CRITICAL CARE UNIT

* She should be able to perform an accurate, systematic assessment of patients who are critically ill, based on clinical and laboratory data.
* She should use appropriate measures to meet the psychosocial needs of the critical care patients and their families.
* She should have the knowledge on using mechanical and electronic life saving equipment required in the case of critically ill patients.
* She should be able to initiate independently life saving procedure when a patients condition warrants.
* She must have thorough knowledge on preventing and control of nosocomial infection.
* Ensure thorough knowledge on drug calculation, administration and drug action.
* Burns should have thorough knowledge of calculation of fluids. Ensure safe practice of aseptic technique and isolators precautions.
* She should have clear knowledge on therapeutic diet and total parenteral nutrition.
* To adhere all NABH Quality standards.

EMERGENCY

* She must be aware of MLC procedures, ambulance services and various procedures done in Emergency.
* She must have knowledge on triaging the patient.
* To be ready to manage disaster.
* To participate in the vaccination programmes and health camps conducted by our hospital.
* To adhere all Quality standards.

OPERATION THEATER

* To visit all the OT areas such as cleaning and disinfecting instruments and waste segregation.
* To check OT traffic.
* To check standard precautions.
* Educate the nurses regarding hand hygiene and surgical scrub.
* Ensure sharp and spillage management.
* Ensure vaccination for all staff.
* To check appropriate isolation precaution.
* To check whether the hand hygiene is followed.
* To check waste is segregated at sources and proper color code is followed.
* To check gloves and mask are used appropriately.
* To check PPE is used appropriately.

Job Specification:

* Registered B Sc(Nursing)/GNM
* 0-3 years of experience in the relevant field
   (Fresher can be trained)
